Fair Elections Center (FEC) is looking for a full-time writer-editor to join our Communications department. The writer-editor will support Fair Elections Center’s media relations and marketing work by drafting and editing media materials; developing content for websites, reports, social media channels, and emails; and assisting in the development of communications strategies as needed. This position will report to the Communications Director.
Support the development of comprehensive and strategic communications messaging.
Write and edit a variety of communications materials, both internal and external, including press releases, op-eds, emails, website and social media copy, and reports.
Compellingly share the impact of Fair Elections Center’s programs through the incorporation of real-life testimonials as well as data and research.
Work with the communications department to create and execute best practices and strategy.
Participate in weekly check-ins with your direct supervisor, monthly communications team meetings, and other organizational calls as needed.
Travel at least twice a year to an organization wide retreat and one of our Campus Vote Project state summits.
Support the Communications team and departmental tasks as needed.
A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience writing/editing press releases, talking points, reports, blog posts and factsheets.
Proven writing and editing abilities, adept at writing for a variety of audiences via numerous platforms.
Ability to convey complex ideas, including but not limited to laws, election processes, and court cases, to the average reader.
Strong attention to detail.
Thorough understanding of proper grammar, syntax and punctuation.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to turn a concept into compelling content.
Ability to incorporate our brand voice and identity in writing.
High degree of computer literacy.
Ability to work effectively collaboratively and independently.
Ability to cope with a fast-paced work environment and juggle competing priorities.
A commitment to Fair Elections Center’s mission.
Understanding of how to utilize SEO to drive traffic.
Knowledge of Google Workspace.
Experience working in WordPress.
Understanding of impactful marketing tactics.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Graphic design and/or video production experience is a plus.
Comfortability with more than one language.
This is a full-time remote position with a salary range of $72,000 to $78,000 depending on experience. Benefits include generous vacation and fully paid health, dental and vision coverage as well as a 403(b) pension plan with employer contribution.
