Though we tried to remember to take it out of the water and secure it to the top of the boat during the big rapids, it may or may not have taken a ride down the infamous Crystal while clipped to the outside of the rig.

I have had such an urge to write like,,, a separate actual story of just high school shenanigans that lead up to the real infamous story of the band was formed and just surviving high school since im enjoying writing these high school scenes far too much but I fear that would become a whole other IF project lol

a 16c. merger of two Middle English words, with the form of infamous "not well-known" (early 15c.) and the sense of infamis (late 14c.), "of ill repute, famous for badness." Infamous is from Medieval Latin infamosus, from in- "not, opposite of" (see in- (1)) + Latin famosus "celebrated" (see famous). Infamis is from Latin infamis "of ill fame" (see infamy).

Meaning "causing infamy" is from 1550s. As a legal term, "disqualified from certain rights of citizens because of conviction for certain crimes" (late 14c.). The neutral fameless (in the sense original to infamous) is recorded from 1590s. Related: Infamously.

late 14c., "celebrated in public report, renowned, well-known" also "notorious, infamous," from Anglo-French famous, Old French fameus (Modern French fameux), from Latin famosus "much talked of, renowned," often "infamous, notorious, of ill repute," from fama (from PIE root *bha- (2) "to speak, tell, say"). A native word for this was Old English namcuð, literally "name-known." Catch phrase famous last words in the humorous sense "remark likely to prove fatally wrong" is attested from 1921 (early lists of them include "Let's see if it's loaded ... We'll get across before the train comes ... Which one is the third rail? ... Light up, it can't explode").

Lisette, a Saint-Domingue-born Creole slave and daughter of an African-born bossale, has inherited not only the condition of slavery but the traumatic memory of the Middle Passage as well. The stories told to her by her grandmother and godmother, including the horrific voyage aboard the infamous slave ship Rosalie, have become part of her own story, the one she tells in this haunting novel by the acclaimed Haitian writer Évelyne Trouillot.

Parents need to know that inFAMOUS is a kind of open-ended Grand Theft Auto-style game -- peppered with more than 100 missions and containing fighting scenes against enemies -- but it's a lot tamer than the "infamous" GTA series (it's rated "teen" instead of "Mature"). Yes, the player can choose to be a bad guy by abusing his newfound superhuman powers, but will be rewarded for using it for good. Electricity-based powers are used against human enemies, and some blood can be seen during or following a battle. Some potentially disturbing comic book-like scenes exist, too, such as humans hanging from a noose. There are suggestive visuals (including a sexy female boss) and some foul language can be heard.
