I am getting many of these errors in my DB log:
(9450) bkioWrite:Insufficient disk space during write, fd 33, len 8192, offset 209720, file DBI1737807616N9QRjQ

The PID in the error message belongs to a SQL server. The file system where the servers write their temp files has a few GB free, and there aren't many unlinked files there, and they are small. So I'm not sure why I'm seeing "insufficient disk space" errors.

Possibly (a) some unrelated process is also writing data there, and it's gone by the time I see the error and check available disk space, or (b) some SQL user ran a large query which wrote a large amount of data to the DBI file, which is now gone.

At this time there the _sqlsrv2 process doesn't have a handle to a DBI file.

I understand the use of the DBI file by ABL clients. What is written to the DBI file by a SQL server?

They're running as root so it shouldn't be a ulimit issue.

Perhaps ulimit is coming into play?

I have a very vague recollection that SQL servers behave badly under some circumstances/releases and might not be following -T. You may find that those DBI files are being written to / or something inconvenient like that.

You answered this back in 2006. :)

Good thought, but I have only 17% in use there.

We don't do much sql where I'm working, but in the past, I recall sql queries that were poorly formed or sorted generating huge (500 MB) temporary files and sometimes filling our working disk. I don't recall the exact error messages.

Thanks. For the time being I'm going to direct -T on the SQL broker to a partition with more available space.
