the EC2 instance that my auction servers are hosted on have a clock that is ~5 seconds behind the clock on my laptop. I'm guessing this is something to be expected, but should we be doing anything to ensure that the tests that will be run against our servers will work correctly? I've noticed that the clock skew causes me to fail my own tests sometime because of the way I pass end_time to the auction service.

Agreed... everything works great on local but on EC2 some of my tests fail.
