Just to clarify, are we expected to handle potential conflicts between auctions? For example, should we be able to resolve a situation in which two auctions with the same name and different end_time are created in rapid succession before our servers can replicate/propagate the data? If so, should we take the auction that was created first and discard the second?

On a related note, I expect that we are supposed to handle bids placed at virtually the same time, differentiating based on bid_time.

The only thing the spec says is "eventually, all replicas return the same responses to calls to winner."

handle potential conflicts between auctions

this came up in class on thursday.  you may assume that no two clients will create an auction with the same name (concurrently or otherwise).

differentiating based on bid_time

sorry, what is bid_time?

Oh sorry, I meant bid_time to be the time that a bid was placed. Thanks for the clarification.

Is there a standard way to propagate information between the replicated servers? Can someone point me to documentation or a tutorial on how to do this?
