Final project spec?

Will a spec be provided for the topic we choose? Or is it open ended,
just implement the idea?

Specifically, I'm hoping for some more details about the persisted,
replicated KVS. How is it different from the Quorum KVS of homework 3?
Also, can we be sure that the project we requested in class on
Thursday is the one we'll be working on?

Hi Oren,

I was hoping that we could reach 'consensus' with each team about what they'd be delivering.  this will be less formal than a spec (and less work for us ;) ), but not entirely open-ended.

you left off a word: "transactional".  so while the two projects I grouped under "quorum kvs" extend assignment 3, I mean for this project to extend assignment 2: take the transactional kvs which supports multi-key updates, and replicate it.  this will probably entail integrating the 2pl locking protocol with two-phase commit, and (most likely) undo.  but the design space is quite large -- explore it.

thanks for your input, by the way.  I owe you (all) an email about the final pairing.  for those of you that only put your names on one project, it's possible that you won't be able to get your choice: we can fight this out over email and/or in person.
