This was one of those sandwiches when reading the list of ingredients I was uncertain that it all would work together but as almost always I would have been wrong as it was all blended together perfectly.

The creamed feta and the tomato & chilli chutney had both worried me when I read them on the menu as I had feared that they may both overpower other flavors in the sandwich. I was so wrong they had been added in just the right amounts so that there was harmony in between the slices of bread and a gentle symphony playing out inside my mouth and on my taste buds.

This was the best deli sandwich that I have eaten this year with no doubt, and it reminded me so much of the deli sandwiches I eat in the states. Today the stars were the fillings inside the sandwich, just as it should be. all too often in England it is all about the bread, but here at the Shambles kitchen? no sir, not today ?

This was also a really great sandwich, as with the deli beef we had concerns that the zingy slaw and the apple BBQ sauce would all get in the way, but once again there was a perfect balance of flavours.

The only downside was that this sandwich was a bit of a messy beast to tackle and there was plenty of meat juice fighting to make itself known as you chomped down for a bite. That was all part of the fun though!

The Shambles Kitchen is located at 28 The Shambles, York, Y01 7LX. You can check them out on their website, and also on the usual social channels, their Facebook page, their Twitter feed, and their Instagram profile

If I still lived in York I would be scoffing these sandwiches down on a regular basis, for now though I will just crave them from afar and gently drool as I recall fondly how good they were that day we visited

Senior food editor Chris Morocco put his own spin on a spiedie-like marinade for Bon Apptit's June issue, adding tomatoes and sweet onion for extra texture and flavor. Since he had never been to Binghamton before, I brought a bottle of Lupo's marinade from home for him to compare. Although Morocco's typically against bottled marinades and dressings, he was into this one. "It's aggressively-seasoned with salt and spices," he says after taking a bite of a freshly-grilled chicken spiedie in the BA test kitchen. "It's not super acidic but perks up the meat and caramelizes nicely." Funny enough, Morocco was tipped off about spiedies from deputy editor Andrew Knowlton, who has also never been to the region. Knowlton tried the sandwich at Ticonderoga Club in Atlanta, which is run by Binghamton natives and hosts "Spiedie Mondays." Side note: I'm looking to bring this exciting spiedie-a-week club to Bon Apptit, so stay tuned.

Sandwiches are generally subject to sales tax. This bulletin explains what is considered a sandwich for sales tax purposes. Additional resources relating to sales of food and beverages (e.g., sales by restaurants or food stores, sales from vending machines, or sales of candy) are listed at the end of this bulletin.

Sandwiches include cold and hot sandwiches of every kind that are prepared and ready to be eaten, whether made on bread, on bagels, on rolls, in pitas, in wraps, or otherwise, and regardless of the filling or number of layers. A sandwich can be as simple as a buttered bagel or roll, or as elaborate as a six-foot, toasted submarine sandwich.

Sandwiches may be purchased for resale without payment of tax provided the purchaser gives the seller a properly completed Form ST-120, Resale Certificate. The purchaser will collect tax when the sandwich is resold at retail. If a purchaser does pay sales tax on a purchase, it may later take a credit on its sales tax return. See Tax Bulletin Sales Tax Credits (TB-ST-810).

Note: A Tax Bulletin is an informational document designed to provide general guidance in simplified language on a topic of interest to taxpayers. It is accurate as of the date issued. However, taxpayers should be aware that subsequent changes in the Tax Law or its interpretation may affect the accuracy of a Tax Bulletin. The information provided in this document does not cover every situation and is not intended to replace the law or change its meaning.

The mystery of the perfect bacon, egg, and cheese has been on my mind the past few weeks. I was intrigued that most New Yorkers, despite their differences, can all agree that bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches are both delicious and a staple New York City food.

I wonder what makes a BEC special enough to be so widely loved. Is it the combination of breakfast and a sandwich, or could it be the ease and accessibility? I am interested in how they are so commonly found in two opposite hands, one of local teenagers and one of construction workers going about their lives.

I also question if the variations between the types of bacon egg and cheese sandwiches matter too. I wonder if customers would notice if you add two eggs instead of one, less cheese or double the bacon, or if you put on hot sauce and ketchup. Does this really change the sandwich? Maybe it is just what you decide is good or not.

Now when living in New York City, ordering bacon, egg and cheese is like second nature. To get data from the people of the city themselves, I asked my friend Cara, who has lived in Brooklyn her whole life, what her regular order is.

When I am out with friends and we are hungry, we make a trip to the nearest deli. I always go to order a BEC without shame, as they are amazing and always fix my mood. I have the same habits as from when I was a kid, I always get a Lemon Iced Tea Arizona bottle with my sandwich. The Arizona combination is perfect, as New Yorkers all over can agree.

We finally arrived at our spot to sit; the playground a few blocks from my house with tables. Even though these tables were obviously meant for games of chess, we could tell from their checkered print, we had no care for those rules and sat down to finish munching on our treats. While we ate, his playlist of classic rock music echoed through my ears, my childhood. This sandwich holds dear in my heart as I have so many past memories of it, and so many recent experiences with it and many more to come.

September 5th, 1989 marked the beginning of the Lenwich story. On that day Lenny began working in a small, undistinguished sandwich shop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. From his first moments on the slicer, preparing hand crafted subs and heroes; he endeavored to turn the deli into something extraordinary.

If I had a dollar for every New York Club Sandwich I've made in my lifetime, I'd be rolling in dough! Some of my first restaurant jobs were in country clubs and no matter where I worked, club sandwiches were always on the menu.

A traditional club sandwich, or clubhouse sandwich as they used to be called, is a triple decker sandwich consisting of three slices of bread. One country club I worked at used crisp lettuce, tomato slices, deli turkey, slices of bacon and layers of ham for their popular sandwich. We also put mayonnaise and mustard on the bread. This added flavor, of course, but it also helped the ingredients stick to the bread once you cut it.

Before you make this sandwich, be sure to have some long toothpicks on hand. I like using the ones with a frill so people can easily see that it needs to be removed. You can also use mini bamboo skewers to secure the sandwich before cutting it into triangular pieces.

This sandwich does not store well. The bread will turn soggy and unappetizing if not eating shortly after assembling the sandwich. If you must make this sandwich in advance, I'd recommend leaving the mayonnaise off the bread so it won't soften as much.
