Quick update to keep everyone in the loop. From what I've heard
third-hand, the following is true:

* Whitelancer is porting the clipboard-paste-cleanup code from fckeditor
to wysiwym editor.
* hustin is creating a new weather site that uses couchdb to serve an
unprecedented number of ads per page.
* CodeOfficer forked Sammy into an app called Samantha that has 100%
test coverage for a js state machine abstraction, which he then uses as
an event loop processor.
* Four is teaching classes in PHP.
* zapnap sold his werewolf app and retired.
* ewallace wrote an algorithm in python so wicked that he collapsed into
a singularity of pure LISP.
* pixelcandy is writing a blog comparing DHH to pinocchio and implying
that all Rails devs are donkeys.
* kalopsian is shopping for a 10-gallon hat.
* bogie is writing a server maintenance application in Rails with
built-in priority spam routing.
* edraut is working on a Rails app for the FBI, but it's really for the
CIA, but he's really a spy for the NSA, but he will disclose everything
at the next MERuby.org meeting.
* --and I'm taking my grant check and fleeing to Mexico.

If I got any of that wrong, please correct. Whom did I miss?

Thanks!

Um, I'm not sure where you heard that, but you're almost completely wrong.

I was in fact awarded an MTI grant, and will be working on DSQ, a
discrete event simulation framework in Ruby, for the duration of August
per that grant. I am also still working on a NASA web site (Rails app),
pushing sassijs toward a v1.0 release, and working on a few phoney apps
for my phoney.biz line of application clones. This one is already up,
but only works in FF so far: http://sketchfaux.phoney.biz/

I'm hoping to have time to clean that up a bit this weekend. I also
just abstracted a js Node library for sassijs, which is useful for
constructing node trees that have the familiar DOM-Node attributes and
methods, although my library returns self instead of the junk that DOM
returns.

I hope you were closer to the truth with your other 'loop' news. Glad
to hear that everyone else is working on some fun stuff. Dimitri is
here at Bard Coffee with me, and if I understand him correctly, he is
writing an app in Seaside that will take over the Library of Congress,
and rewrite all of their ISDN numbers into native Smalltalk objects.

Later!

My devious plans, all out in the open.
Well, no matter.
All (non-Smalltalk apps) will perish in an ISDN apocalypse.

I'm reading, "The Well Grounded Rubyist" and getting a lot out of it, and working on the exercises in the book as I go along. Also prepping for a trip to Texas to hit Lonestar Ruby Conference. Signed up for Ruby Craftsmanship Intermediate and Advanced classes at the conference. Writing blog posts every now and then as the inspiration hits. Enjoying the occasional freedom to head down for Progmatica meetings.
