The Premium, Plus, and EDU plans are licensed for personal use only. This mean that only the individual user can use any audio created with the voices for their own private use. If the audio is redistributed or shared in any way (eg sending the mp3 to others, posting the audio online or using the audio in online content, using the audio to create videos, etc), then it is no longer personal use.
Aside from user count, the only other difference between the plans are what voices are included. 'Premium' plans include unlimited listening with the non-AI Premium Voices. 'Plus' plan include the same, in addition to 500,000 characters per user per day to listen with the AI Plus Voices.
First check which voice you are using in the app to listen or download. Plus Voices aren't included with a Premium plan, so you may be getting upgrade prompts if you are using a Plus Voice with a Premium subscription. The voices are all labelled as 'Free', 'Premium', or 'Plus'. If you are a free or Premium user, you can sample the voices for 5 minutes per day.

One common issue you can check is that depending on your location, your bank may not have been expecting an international charge. You can inform your bank to approve international charges from naturalreaders.com and try purchasing again.
It is very common that a user might sign up for a subscription then forget about it or have a family member subscribe without permission. Or sometimes employees subscribe with a company card but don't cancel. No matter the reason, we are happy to look into any transactions you don't recognize from naturalreaders.com.

Voices are licensed to us by third party voice providers at a cost. We add voices based on the number of requests as well as whether suitable high quality text to speech voices for a specific language or accent are available on the market.
Most devices have free to use text to speech voices pre-installed, which are accessible through NaturalReader's Free Voices list. The availability of Free Voices will depend on your device, operating system, and/or browser.
Scroll and click to select a voice. All voices are labelled as 'Free', 'Premium', and 'Plus'. Premium subscriptions include all the Premium voices. Plus subscriptions include the same, in addition to Plus voices.
The trial version is for demonstration purposes only so will not allow you to download the audio mp3s. But you can sample all the voices that are available with the application as well as all the other basic functions with the audio settings and Pronunciation Editor. For security reasons, trial users may listen to 10 000 characters of text per day of the trial.
NaturalReader Commercial is the only one of our products that allows you to use the application and voices for commercial or public use and any redistribution purposes. This includes, but is not limited, to: YouTube videos, public announcements, broadcasts, e-Learning, and IVR or voice messaging.
The voices available with the software versions (Personal, Professional, and Ultimate) as well as NR Online are permitted for personal use only. This means that audio created with those versions cannot be used for any redistribution purposes. This is also why the Commercial version offers its own voice list.
If there is a language you are interested in using or would like to see more voices offered in, please let us know by sending us feedback through our website's help system. We cannot make any promises for what new options will added, but we will keep all of your feedback in mind when and if suitable high-quality commercially licensed voices become available to us to procure and if demand remains high.
Please note that NaturalReader Commercial is a separate platform from NaturalReader Online. Because of the difference in licensing, NR Commercial has its own set of voices to offer. Voices available with NaturalReader Online are not available to use with NaturalReader Commercial, and vice-versa.
The voices come from different providers so may have varying abilities in features. Using phonemic characters in the Pronunciation Editor settings is a great way to fine-tune the details of an utterance, but unfortunately not all voices are programmed to allow this. Voices not able to use phonemic characters are noted within the P.E. settings.

AI has made significant progress in synthesizing voices. It can pick up on formatted text and change tone accordingly. Gone are the days where the voices sounded robotic. Speechify is revolutionizing that.
Speechify TTS stands out by offering a more natural and human-like voice quality, a wider range of customization options, and user-friendly integration across devices. Plus, our dedication to accessibility means that we ensure a seamless and inclusive experience for all users.
[(9/22) UPDATE: The new Read Aloud voices have been temporarily disabled in Outlook. The new voices are still available in Word (and the original Read Aloud voices still work in Outlook). Thanks for your patience while we work on the Outlook issues.]
Firstly, if you haven't tried for awhile, try again. The voices have gotten way better in the last couple of years. Something to do with AI getting better at a completely non-terrifying pace. Nothing to worry about there...
Kindle has an immersive reading mode that allows you to listen and read at the same time if you own both the ebook and audiobook. You can often buy the audiobook at a discount if you buy it along with the ebook. This is more expensive than using Evie but might be a good option for people who prefer human readers.
It has hundreds of neural voices (Microsoft calls them "Natural" voices) in dozens of languages and dialects, and you can change the reading speed too. I find the voices to be among the best I've heard, and the super low activation energy of not having to copy-paste anything or switch to another window means I use it much more often than when I tried apps like Neural Reader.
Going beyond being a simple Text to speech tool, Murf revolutionizes the way you create and edit voiceovers. It serves as a high-quality, low-cost option for creating natural-sounding voiceover narrations for a variety of uses.
Murf provides its users with the commercial rights to use the voiceovers generated on the platform for videos on YouTube or any other channel. Natural Readers, on the other hand, offers what is known as Natural Readers Commercial which allows you to use the application and voices for commercial or public use and any redistribution purposes. This includes, but is not limited, to YouTube videos, public announcements, broadcasts, e-Learning, and IVR or voice messaging.

I am looking for some easy to install text to speech software for Ubuntu that sounds natural. I've installed Festival, Gespeaker, etc., but nothing sounds very natural. All very synthetic and hard to understand.
Pico and espeak are fun and easy to get to work, but they're not all that good. The default Festival voices are also not that good. However, Festival is a scheme-based speech framework, where a number of researchers have built much better plug-in voices. You can easily surpass the pico2wave quality on stock Ubuntu, because one of those voices is available as a ready-made package.
You can get other quite good voices from the Nitech repository, but installing them is finicky, and the default paths changed so the file name references in the bundled scheme files may need to be manually edited to work on stock Ubuntu.
I believe Ive found the best TTS software for free using a Google Chrome extension called "SpeakIt". This only works in the Chrome browser for me on Ubuntu. It doesnt work with Chromium for some reason. SpeakIt comes with two female voices which both sound very realistic compared to everything else out there. There are at least four more male & female voices listed s Chrome extensions if you search the Chrome Web Store using "TTS" as your query.
