I'm very new to installing mods for Dragon Age and have just updated my game to version 1.04 (latest version) but with no additional DLC, packs or anything like that installed - just the original game.
I'm trying to install a couple of mods using daupdater.exe as instructed in various mods / tutorials. However I recieve a consistent error when installing and can't see a way around it. Out of curiosity, I tried a couple of other mods but neither of them worked either.
I've not tried deleting any .INI files and haven't seen anything on that? As far as restarting the game goes though - it's closed down when I try and install the mods but starting it then quitting then trying again doesn't seem to help.
I'm running the game from a CD and the copy I have is simply "Dragon Age: Origins". However I do also have the expansion pack, Awakening. This isn't installed and isn't a part of the original DVD though, it's a seperate package all together.
Sorry you're having problems. Don't have time to layout all the troubleshooting steps for you right now, but this Nexus Wiki article might get you pointed in the right direction: "Using DA Mods for Dummies".
From your listing of the error messages, it's clear that SOMETHING is not installed properly, but DAUpdater should have been "installed" as part of the overall game installation process. YOU shouldn't have to do anything other than run it.
The answer, after all that, was something stupid and small: I had the "Bioware" folder in My Documents set to "hidden" to keep everything in there nice and neat - I don't like programs chucking loads of folders in there so I just hide them.
Hey Kalfireth, thanks for letting us know how you fixed it! Several years later and I just had the same problem. I had copied my documents over from another system that had the bioware folder hidden so I didn't even remember it was there until I started getting errors while installing mods!
This happened at some point during the 2nd level of the Circle Tower (I have one save at the start of the level with the armor and one save at the end of the level where it is missing). I have neither sold nor destroyed this armor (inventory was far from full). Unfortunately, I did not notice this immediately as no one (main character or NPCs) was yet able to use this armor.I only noticed it after completing the Circle Tower and returning to the camp.
I have tried the "disable DLC/force load/save/enable DLC/reload" trick but it did not work. Furthermore, with 1.04 all pieces of the Blood Dragon armor are missing from Bodahn inventory after these steps.
I had a similar glitch of missing items and gold from inventory yesterday; before taking Zathrian to talk to the Lady, I had 126 gold and a ton of potions. After the battle, I had 54 silver and was missing potions; I didn't notice anything else missing, those were the most obvious and I didn't have a lot of special items (I put them in Soldier's Peak storage before hitting the ruins). I shut down the game for a bit, came back, reloaded from the previous save (created a new one too) and did it again. Never gotten a glitch like that before this patch where things randomly vanished from inventory. The only thing I can think of is reloading from the previous save if the disable/reload didn't work. :\ LynMars (talk) 17:18, July 26, 2010 (UTC)
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's version 1.04 update brings some much needed quality of life changes and bug fixes, but many fans were surprised to discover that the time machine was not included in this patch. Developers promised players that the next patch would include more ways to use the time machine that Bulma built, including the ability to return to previous sections of the story and complete timed sub-stories. Players could theoretically use the time machine to play Vegito again or replay portions of the story that they enjoy, but unfortunately, it does not seem that they will have that option just yet as of this most recent patch.
For those unaware, after beating the main story of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Bulma builds a time machine like the one Future Trunks used in order to allow him to visit the main cast in their timeline. Currently, this is mostly a gimmick to allow Future Trunks to be playable during the post game content, but its features should expand soon. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot just updated to version 1.04, and many fans expected to see these new features added on to Bulma's time machine, but instead only received bug fixes and quality of life changes.
Many of these quality of life changes and bug fixes were direly needed, so this is not to say that fans are disappointed with what they've received, rather that they are disappointed with what they didn't receive. One of the most exciting changes was the improvement of load times. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot had somewhat abnormally long load times, especially for a game in which gathering dragon balls or doing certain sub-stories is entirely about switching back and forth between areas on the world map. The reduced load times are definitely noticeable, and a drastic and welcome fix to one of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's biggest problems.
Beyond that, many of the progress-halting bugs were addressed as well. Certain players were experiencing issues in which characters would not appear, making some main and sub stories impossible to complete. Usually, this was the result of the character being present on the field as a villainous enemy or awkwardness with specific save and load times. Thankfully, though, this has been addressed. There was also a minor change for Xbox One players, making it so the game does not skip the intro cinematic and go straight to the title screen.
While these changes are nice, there are surprisingly a lot of other bugs still to be found in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Many players hoping to reach the maximum level of 250 have discovered that the special training with Bonyu is the best way to do so, but have experienced numerous crashes, fatal errors, and glitches while grinding. One such glitch causes the character to float higher into the air after each battle, eventually rocketing them out of bounds, while others simply cause the game to shut down, voiding any progress made since the last auto save. Hopefully these glitches and more will be fixed soon.
While these changes are certainly welcome, it can't be avoided that most fans are disappointed about the exclusion of the time machine in this most recent update. When Bandai Namco announced that a free update would include new sub-stories and add features to the time machine, many assumed that this would happen in the next update. However, given that the time machine is completely absent from version 1.04, that is obviously not the case. For the time being, the time machine will offer nothing but the ability to play Future Trunks again.
Once these features are included, players will have the opportunity to venture back to previous sections of the story, allowing them to do many things. The ability to access certain time locked sub-stories and perhaps play as certain characters again would certainly be a welcome addition to the game. One of the main complaints has been that there's not much to do after beating Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, not providing too much longevity or replayability. The time machine could fix a lot of these problems, and could be an avenue into other stories as well.
There has been much speculation about whether or not Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will venture into the territory of other Dragon Ball stories, such as Dragon Ball Z movies, Dragon Ball Super, or Dragon Ball: GT. Although Dragon Ball Super seems like the most likely candidate, introducing the time machine could actually provide a method of exploring the story of non-canon Dragon Ball stories. There have already been rumors and leaks detailing the possibility of a Broly in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and the inclusion of certain characters opens up the possibility for other things.
Particularly Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's secret boss, Mira, really points towards the possibility of including Dragon Ball: GT content. In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Mira fuses with one of Toki-Toki's eggs and gains a form which highly resembles Super Saiyan 4. It is revealed later when this egg hatches that the entire Dragon Ball: GT timeline lived inside of it. After defeating Mira in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Towa says that they will go to a different timeline to gather more energy, so it would be interesting if new original content in line with this was introduced.
The changes brought forth in this update are hopefully the first of many additions and fixes to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Even in its present state, most fans praise the game for being an incredible experience full of nostalgia, new information, and enjoyable gameplay, and it stands to reason that it can only get better as patches roll out and more and more features are added. Although players did not get the time machine this time, this update was somewhat of a surprise, and certainly doesn't void the time machine announcement. For now, players will simply have to wait.
However, the real meat of update 1.04 is in the various balance changes. Colossal Swords and weapons have had their attack speed increased and their recovery time lowered. Two-handed attack damage with them has also been increased. None of these buffs apply to jumping attacks though so keep that in mind.
