I've followed this group for many years and have seen Profiles from the beginning.  I have just been asked to step in and help resurrect an old, very out of date instance.  The current instance is in talks of being blocked for various security reasons.

I'm looking for the easiest way to get a new instance up and running on new servers and then transfer the data over once it's operational.

There is not a lot of time that can be assigned to this project.  Anybody have any suggestions about how I can get a "lite" version up and running without going down a rabbit hole?  This is mostly going to be a Poof of Concept that it can be saved endeavor.

Is there anything special that I should know about installing a clean  December 18, 2025 version?

Thank you all,

It should be pretty easy to install the latest version of profiles and copy your data over. Assuming that you are on Profiles 1.0 or newer (not the Beta version from 2011), the format of the person import tables is the same, so they can just be copied across to the fresh install. Existing publications can also be copied across very easily, although you would want to do an XML refresh to get the latest pubmed xml. If you have any other data you are trying to copy (such as overviews, awards etc) this is a little more complex, as you need to export them from the node and triple tables and import them into the new instance. I have scripts that I use to export data from the Harvard instance that I use when to create test data. I am happy to share these with you, and they should be a very good starting point.

Great and thanks

I'll keep you posted.  I need to put in a request for new hardware.

Thanks again,

Bill
