Profiles User Group - March 19, 2026 - Call for Agenda Items

We have our next instance of the Profiles User Group on Thursday, March 19 at 1pm Eastern. You can join the meeting with this Zoom link.

Is there any newer documentation about the disambiguation service other than the original 2010 documentation?   Currently, I'm getting an error running it as a separate service, but it was working with the same code Friday.

Thanks for letting us know. Our IT department did some infrastructure work over the weekend, and it seems to have broken something. We are looking into it.

The disambiguation service is back up and running again now, I identified an internal configuration issue that was causing queries to run for minutes or timeout.

I'm not sure which URL you are using to call it. Historically we have used http://profiles.catalyst.harvard.edu/services/GetPMIDs/default.asp this URL is proxied to http://weberdemo.hms.harvard.edu/disambiguation/services/GetPMIDs/default.asp . Sometimes on slow running queries we see timeouts on the profiles.catalyst.harvard.edu url that are successful on the weberdemo.hms.harvard.edu url. So I would recommend switching URL if it is easy. The vast majority of queries should run successfully with either URL.
