Has anyone created (or would have interest in) an OpenSocial Gadget that brings in Funding Opp info from COS Pivot into Profiles? Sounds like COS wants to give every researcher a Profile (not just member institutions). I was going to reach out to our Pivot rep for some questions, but if others have solved this or already are talking about it, great. I didn't see it on the list of gadgets in progress, but this may not be exhaustive (https://code.google.com/p/ucsf-opensocial--shindig-apps/). We'd also like to figure out how to minimize all the things our faculty have to claim (ORCID profile, COS Pivot, etc...). In addition, perhaps we can push keywords from Profiles (via selection from both passive PubMed-derived keywords & our custom self-described keywords): give individuals one place they can flag a keyword for COS funding opp searches.

We are interested in this at Harvard. However, when we spoke to Pivot, they said we couldn't query/download their data in a way that would enable it. At the time, I didn't dig into this in more depth. However, I think it would be helpful if you wanted to explore this a bit more with Pivot.

We are also interested at UCSF.  I had the same experience as Griffin though and we also didn’t pursue it in greater detail.

We’d definitely be interested in seeing if/how to move it forward and if you want a partner, let us know …
