Role: Oracle L2 Database Administrator
Location: NJ
Duration: Long Term
Responsibilities:
1. Daily reactive Incident and Service Request support for Oracle Databases globally via hotline and ticketing systems. Perform triage, initial troubleshooting, and escalation.
2. Proactively support the ongoing maintenance and optimization of preventative maintenance activities designed to increase the stability of the environment and maintain high levels of stability.
3. Interfaces proactively with other Infrastructure support teams such as UNIX, WINTEL, Network, IT Facilities, Backup, Storage, Monitoring, Security etc.
4. Provide 2nd level support to Oracle vendor teams, including training
5. Develop and maintain procedures & policies around all aspects of server support & implementation, including evaluation of existing practices, documentation, and holding training sessions.
6. Assist with implementation of Oracle databases, including bank-standard build and QA process.
7.A Support application development teams with Version upgrades, application releases, and cloning / creating copies of existing databases for testing and development purpose.
8. Support day to day maintenance and operation of databases including table space maintenance, providing expertise and recommendation on performance tuning, and consultancy requests where application development teams require Oracle DBA expertise.
9. Work with other global Oracle team members to provide follow-the-sun support and drive global consistency.
10.Provide 2nd level support to application support teams managing Oracle based applications
11.Provide on-going assistance to other service providers with new implementations and support issues
12.Participate in and contribute to strategic bank initiatives & programs, including but not limited to Oracle patching security initiatives, integration of mergers and acquisitions, and optimization of our production server and database estate.
Skill Requirements
Essential Skills:
∙ Demonstrable experience of managing high-performance, high-capacity databases in a critical production environment.
∙ Solid Oracle 11gR1/R2 RAC experience including build, general administration, troubleshooting (Break/Fix) and performance tuning skills
∙ Experience in Clusterware (GRID Infrastructure) - CRS management and configuration
∙ Skilled in Oracle ASM and Dataguard administration
∙ Expertise in SQL & Database Level performance tuning skills
∙ Expertise in backup and recovery and migration using RMAN, datapump and export/import.
∙ Experience in Oracle Exadata, Golden Gate replication a plus
∙ Experience on Solaris, Linux and AIX OS including strong shell scripting skills.
∙ Willingness to work in 24*7 Global support model.
∙ Aid development teams for analyzing issues.
∙ Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic & analytical skills.
∙ Excellent communication & coordination skills is required.
∙ Strong initiative and sense of ownership.
∙ Expert knowledge of database scripting and automation technology
∙ Excellent written and verbal communications
∙ Experience working with offshore vendors
∙ Builds positive working relationships, works collaboratively with other team members, and is a team player.
∙ Experience in a large corporate environment
Desired Skills:
∙ Competent in Change/Release Management ( ITIL based – preferably ITIL Foundation Certified)
∙ Experience in maintenance and management of databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
∙ Expertise in complex database upgrades to 11G
Experience Required:
- 4-5 years of experience in Oracle databases on UNIX platforms, preferably in the financial sector
- 4 year degree or equivalent industry experience
