All, I've started a gradual transition from a Windows-based PHP (mostly) programming environment to Linux/Ubuntu.  My workhorse editor is Textpad (something about cold, dead fingers applies here), but I've used Notepad++ OK, and I wonder what editor you folks favor under Linux.

Requirements:  GUI, multi-documents, brace/bracket matching, native Linux operation.  (I don't want to complicate my linux environment by installing wine.)

There's several editor comparisons online, but the trees really do obscure the forest for me, so I'm interested in your opinions here.

PS: Disregard the comment above re Textpad and cold, dead fingers. But like most of you, I dearly love my workhorse editor.

For gui I use Sublime. Meets all of those requirements and then some.

Sublime Text editor is generally the editor of choice for most developers nowadays, unless you need a full blown IDE. Even then, you can totally get away with Sublime for everyday development. I do, and I love it.
