difference in number of sequences in Protein Translations and Nucleotide Sequences

Hi Prodigal discussion group

I have used Prodigal to see the protein coding genes in the meta-genomics samples.

The number of sequences contained in one of the output files were "Protein Translations" = 848436 and Nucleotide Sequences = "849068"

Why there is differences in number of reads in Protein Translations and Nucleotide Sequences. Please suggest
