Despite the end of his marriage and the promise to his new girlfriend Lauretta to quit gambling, he continues to bet with his new partners: "Big Cat", an unemployed 40-year-old who still lives with his parents, and the "Engineer", an out-of-course law student. The three devise a scam to swap two horses that look alike: "Come va va", a loser, and Pokémon, a champion owned by Count De Blasi. They plan to bet on "Come va va" after making him run as Pokémon and lose, thus raising his odds. However, they have to face many obstacles and complications, such as the intervention of Aurelia, Mandrake's ex-girlfriend, and Faiella, a Neapolitan accountant who was cheated by Mandrake. They also have to deal with Cozzaro Nero, a loan shark who wants to get his money back from Mandrake, and De Blasi, who discovers their fraud and wants to sue them. The film ends with a twist that leaves Mandrake and his associates without money but with a lot of laughs.
