I've got a ghost app appearing on my screen. It's an app that's on my phone, but it's not pinned to the home screen. It's sudden started appearing every time I open my phone, overlayed over another pinned app. Bit you can't select it etc.

So a few restarts managed to get rid of the problem for now. I'm hoping it's a permanent fix. But of anyone else has had the issue and found the underlying cause, I'd appreciate a steer on solving the problem properly.

Some time ago, my graphics adapter randomly started to behave very weird. I was at work when suddenly my computer did what happens when you unplug a HDMI cable from your pc (going black for a split second and then reorganizing the screen). I found this very weird, so I did some research. After messing around I suddenly saw the following:

which is Dutch, it says "generic non-PnP monitor/screen" and "generic PnP monitor/screen". I am working from my laptop with one external screen (so two screens in total). Also, when I plug in a hdmi cable, sometimes the external screen doesn't work when I put it the screen settings on "duplicate screen" but then it only works when I put it on "external screen only". Who knows what's going on? I already did a driver update and restarted my laptop several times, even took out the battery.

I accepted h3rat's answer for now because that made me get rid of the random extra monitors! Still weird, and if anyone actually knows what causes this problem I'm glad to hear! What I did was delete my new Intel graphics drivers (both from my installed programs and in the graphics adapters section in device manager), installed the older version as noticed by h3rat. After that the monitors were still there, I deleted them in control panel, restarted again and sicne then they don't pop up anymore and everything seems to be fine. Would still like to have an answer why this actually happens!

I had the same issue, which I previously attributed to connecting to various TVs in different meeting rooms. However, it appears to be related to Hyper-V; when I removed Hyper-V from the system the problem was immediately fixed.

I disabled all my Generic non-Pnp screens in device manager and made sure my windows was in PC screen only mode (fn + F8 on my dell pc, brings up the black sidebar on the right, don't know what it ). Then i went to the display settings and tried getting it to display only on display 1 with the help of the dropdown. I had to try a few times since it was acting completely random... Once they were all seperated i could select my display 2 and set it to extend. Pressed apply and all was good again... Hope it can help you :)

I updated to the latest HD Graphics 4600 driver which, at my time, is version 15.40.37.4835. Because I have a Lenovo T540p with a combined NVIDIA Optimus thing, I had to follow the instructions to force install the driver because it was refusing to install over the existing, outdated, broken, Lenovo-provided one.

I had a similar issue when I connected my laptop to an external screen via a USB box (a box where you plug in a single USB into your laptop and the box connects your laptop to multiple things, monitors, keyboard, mouse, internet, etc.).

This box allows for multiple monitor connections and there was both a VGA and a Displayport in there. Removing the VGA, which was plugged in but not connected to any monitor, made the ghost monitor disappear.

Another year, another problem. After the Christmas break decided to upgrade to Windows 11 and the latest version of Storyline (I know, I'm crazy, right???) just to start the year with a fresh system and clean install (I know, I'm crazy, right???).

But this... obnoxious monstrosity... now suddenly appears around my selected item and creates a new, unwanted, bounding box that has absolutely NO purpose, as far as I can tell. What is the point of it? What does it do? How does this help? What even is it?

The file was created by a third party, I believe, and was handed to me by the client to tidy up. I have already installed, rebooted, and reinstalled a completely fresh copy of Storyline on my Windows 10 and 11 environments but the issue persists.

Here is a similar attempt, with Grid & Guides ON, but just showing how the extra boundary area is defined by the transparent white shape, but the actual shape is defined by the perimeter highlighted by the 'smart' guides.

I would like to clarify to the tech, Jan, that it appears when the item is dragged (or about to be dragged) to a new position. The extra padding doesn't appear simply by clicking on the shape. One needs to try and move the shape, and THEN the box appears.

Thanks for the update! I see that Jan suggested closing the format window and seeing if the issue will still happen. If the problem persists, he recommends running the cleanup script along with reinstalling the Articulate 360 desktop app and Storyline.

Mine did the same thing today. Unfortunately since I have the My Chevrolet app on my screen, it started my car (from 6 states away) while it was randomly pressing places on the screen. Hard reset fixed it, but not before it failed password checks enough to lock me out for an hour. Very annoying.

I am running watchOS 10.5 on AW Series 9 and the problem of ghost touches has not been fixed. In my case it happens every time I use the workout app and wear a jacket. The AW9 registers touches from my sleeve: it marks segments by itself, stops music tracks, skips music tracks, changes the current screen view. It is extremely annoying and ongoing. The issue has been out there for a long time and Apple failed miserably to fix it.

I'm having the ghost touch issue. It started yesterday afternoon. After trying the recommended fixes ie: force a restart, place on charge, and update (updating I could not do), the problem persists. I did get the watch to force restart, but it will only get to the apple screen then it shuts back off then back on with three seconds on apple screen and 3 on black screen. This is while charging. It has been doing that same cycle for the last 20ish hours. This is a fairly new watch just put on my cellular plan about 2 or 3 months ago. It was a new device from insurance claim. Wish this could get resolved as I use my watch all the time for work. Any real fixes yet?

So I purchased a screen from iFixit to fix my old one. Everything worked fine for about the first 12 hours then suddenly it started experiencing pretty bad ghost touch about once every 10 minutes. I removed the screen and cleaned the contacts on the motherboard and display then reseated it to have the same problem in another 12 hours. Would this be a problem with the display or am I installing something wrong. I should also mention I installed a battery replacement also from iFixit.

I always connected the battery last and disconnected it first, and I cleaned the connectors with a qtip and isopropyl alcohol. So I'm convinced it's the screen. I Will try a new one as soon as they send one out.

Essentially, what's happening is that while OEM iPhone screens contain a layer of coating designed to offer resistance against both the static electricity generated by one's fingers, and the oils / sweat produced by fingers which lead to fingerprints, condensation etc on screens, the third party ones seem to be severely lacking in this. That's why often this problem will take a while to appear after a repair - it starts happening once you get fingerprints, oils, or just condensation from these materials or your breath on the screen, and will temporarily fix itself if the screen has been wiped / unused for a while and therefore dried out.

If that's true and it's just oils then a screen protector should solve the problem. My radiant max 5 g phone has this problem and it's apparently common for this phone. I bought a new screen I hope it works

Hello, I work with a archive footage, so I work with a lot of edits right in the cut between two shots. What is happening to me quite often is that after I render the sequence in some moments the last frame from the previous shot suddenly appears, so the transition is not clean. It started to appear couple of months ago, it never happened to me before and I work with Premiere 15 years. Does anybody have some idea or suggestion what can be wrong? Thanks a lot!

Thank you, but this is only if I use some transition effect, not when making just simple cuts, right? Why am I asking is that it happens only somewhere. As you can see on the screenshot, there are many of simple cuts, but this problem appears just "randomly" somewhere. I guess it is not just random bug, but I have no idea what can be wrong...

No, if you dont have enough handles it will happen with every transition. In some cases it will be very easy to spot and in some cases not depending of if one are missing handles on both clips, or only the incoming clip, or only the outgoing clip, or both. This can be seen as having some randomness to it though it is not.

Can you maybe post a short clip so we can see how it looks? Since you wrote ghost frame i am not 100% sure that this is the problem or if you by ghost frame mean that one/two/three frame/s from a total different place of the clip, or even from a different clip.

Basically I am picking the good sequences from various old movies, mostly by cutting the parts I need right after the last frame of the previous part I do not want to use. Then all the time I work with it I see only those frames which I cut out of the footage in the whole sequence. But after I do the render suddenly at some of the parts appear one, two or three frames from the sequence, which I erased. You can see two examples on the exported clip here:
