If you know the places where the UI might get stuck for a long time, you can build the watchdog to guard against this (skip current frame for example). If it is to long why are you doing it on the UI? If the action you are performing refers to redrawing the screen you can not do it somewhere else.
A watchdog is a timer that must be reset periodically to indicate that the system is working properly. If it is not reset due to a hardware fault or program error, it will generate a reboot signal to restart the device and bring the system to a known operation mode.
Digi extends the Android APIs with a System Watchdog Service that is not available in the common Android distributions and provides an API to manage the system watchdog. In addition to this, Digi includes a new software watchdog interface called Application Watchdog Service that is used to restart applications when malfunction is reported instead of restarting the entire system. The system watchdog is common to all applications running in the device, as it relies in the hardware layer, while the application watchdog is specific for each application.

Thanks for the patch, now we are not getting the watchdog reboot during GPU operation but we are getting display freeze while running GPU application. This happens on a long run(for more than a day).
Not sure it matters but when I go to apps >> show system apps - This com.google.android.trichromelibrary is not listed. Many other system apps seem to follow that same sort of naming pattern, com.android.whatever, com.google.android.whatever, etc... But com.google.android.trichromelibrary is not there.
Okio uses a watchdog thread to implement read & write timeouts for blocking I/O. When the watchdog sees that an operation has gone on too long, it kills the offending stream so that the application can either give up or retry.
You can't use socket timeouts on multiplexed streams; the sockets aren't the problem! But Okio's watchdog works on streams and can interrupt a problematic stream without breaking the entire connection.
Additionally, Watchdog is a solution to recover the player from crashes.
