Hello Processing Educators!
If you are teaching Processing this semester or the next, I wanted to give you a quick rundown on the recent updates on
Classes on OpenProcessing. Since the redesign, teaching creative coding using OpenProcessing is much more intuitive, allowing collaboration between students and professors as they study creative coding with P5js. This past year, 312 classes used OpenProcessing in the classroom, and I am actively improving the features based on the feedback I receive.
New Code Editor with P5js
The new code editor allows you to code in
P5js, the native javascript version of Processing. You can also upload files and use libraries. P5js reference is also one click away for help as you code!
Teach and Collaborate
Create a class, invite your students, and start teaching creative coding, all within minutes! You can organize your class with collections (per week, per topic, up to you), view the activity or get notified of submitted sketches via email.
With Professor Plus+ Membership, you and your students can also:
* Make your class and your sketches private
* Hide source code of sketches and give them as assignments
* Embed sketches in fullscreen on your class blog, or use it to showcase on display
* Clone your class when it is time for a new semester
* Get Priority Support from me, without leaving the website!
Social Coding
As they learn creative coding, expose your students to 200,000 sketches and the community of 100,000 designers, artists and educators on OpenProcessing. Let them learn open source software literacy by exploring other sketches, understand their source code, create forks and give attribution. If you fancy data visualizations, here is one that I explored the interaction between the community and Classes on OpenProcessing:
I am continuously improving the Classes section and the site overall based on the feedback of the educators such as you, so please reach out to me if you have any feedback or questions!
Best regards,
