The Journal of Luminescence is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Elsevier. The editor-in-chief is Xueyuan Chen (Chinese Academy of Sciences).[1] According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2022 impact factor of 3.6.[2] The journal covers all aspects related to the emission of light (luminescence).
Since 1990, Luminescence Society of India (LSI) is providing a forum for interaction for Indian scientists and technologists with affiliation to different universities and research institutions in the field of thermo-luminescence, photo-luminescence, elctro-luminescence, mechano-luminescence, bio-luminescence, chemi-luminescence etc and their applications by organizing annual conferences regularly. Two international conferences were also successfully organized in 2000 and 2004 at Baroda and Mumbai respectively, wherein Indian researchers were joined by a large number of foreign scientists also.
International Journal of Luminescence and Applications [ IJLA] is an interdisciplinary PER-REVIEWED journal published quarterly covering material science, Luminescence and Applications. The objectives of journal is to encourage original contributions of major research ventures and is focused towards research being carried out in mentioned fields and emerging innovations by scientists, technologists and engineers in the modern era as Sharing knowledge is essential for the progress of science. Its aim provides a forum to assist the academic staff and industrial technologists from local and foreign institutions on publishing research results and studies through this scholarly publication and make the newly created knowledge readily available to the sceintific community.

Luminescence is one of the most interesting physical effects in various fields of science, technology and medicine. Recent advances in related instrumentation and methods, as well as the simplicity of luminescent techniques adapted to a wide variety of applications, has made it very popular in many natural sciences. Luminescent and fluorescent analysis provide some of the most selective and sensitive ways for detecting many molecular compounds, impurities and biological tissues. We are announcing this Special Issue to focus on recent advances in the investigation of luminescence effects and their novel applications.
The scope of this Issue includes bioimaging, phonon-assisted upconversion, luminescent nanothermometry in vivo, analysis of biological tissues, characterization of impurities and color centers in crystals, investigation of intraband and interband transitions, nonlinear effects, quantum dots, and so on.

The purpose of the Journal of Luminescence is to provide a means of communication between scientists in different disciplines whoshare a common interest in the electronic excited state of molecular, ionic and covalent systems, whether crystalline, amorphous, orliquid.We invite original papers and reviews on such subjects as: exciton and polariton dynamics, dynamics, dynamics of localizedexcited states, energy transport in ordered and disordered systems, radiative and non-radiative recombination, relaxation processes,vibronic interactions in electronic excited states, photochemistry in condensed systems, excited state resonance, double resonance, etc,selective excitation spectroscopy, coherent processes in excited states, e.g. coherent optical transients, photon echoes, transient gratings,multiphoton processes such as optical bistability, hole burning, photochromism, multiphoton spectroscopy, new techniques for the studyof excited states. This list is not intended to be exhaustive. Papers in the traditional areas of optical spectroscopy (absorption, MCD,luminescence, Raman scattering) are welcome. Papers on applications (phosphors, electro- and cathodo-luminescence, radiography, energyconversion, etc.) are also welcome if they present results of scientific, rather than only technological interest. Whatever the subject,to be accepted a paper must present some genuinely novel result of sufficient importance to justify publication in an international journal.All papers will be refereed. Authors may submit their papers if they wish to an associate editor, but the final responsibility for acceptingor rejecting a paper rests with the general editor. Every effort will be made to ensure that submitted papers are acted on promptly.They should appear in print within four months of receipt in final form.
