Pro Theme Design: August 2011

These last couple of months at Pro Theme Design have been quite a bit busier than planned.

TimThumb

At the end of July a security flaw was found in TimThumb. It gave attackers the ability to insert PHP into users websites. There's more information about what happened here, but long story short - all Pro Theme Design themes have been updated. As such you should either update your theme from the accounts control panel, or grab the latest version of TimThumb from the TimThumb Google Code page.

Nominate update

Nominate has received a new update to improve the management of submitted content. The problem is that old submitted content, ie stuff not on your website, could be changed or removed - which would mean you are linking to outdated pages. The new update includes an automated process that scans old posts and checks the validity of the pages they are linking to. It then moves content around and emails you it's findings. Thus reducing your work, and improving your website all in one go. There's a more detailed post about this going live on the Pro Theme Design blog this Monday - but you can grab the update now from the accounts control panel.

Accumulo update

Accumulo has also received some love. There have been 2 additions.

1. RSS feed summaries now grab images from the post content and insert an image thumbnail into the tooltips.
2. There is a new RSS feed widget that displays more content, and also includes a thumbnail.

A demo of this can be seen on the Accumulo demo page. Like Nominate the update is already on the accounts control panel, and there will be more info on the PTD blog next week.

Preview Themes

Don't forget that you can preview the Pro Theme Design themes on the theme preview site so please feel free to try these things for yourself.
