Come & Greet
California Assemblymember Fiona Ma
Speaker Pro Tempore
HAIC’s representatives recently visited Sacramento, for the California Maritime Leadership Symposium. The delegation had a unique opportunity to meet with State Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Fiona Ma. Assemblymember Ma stated she is a supporter of our ports and expressed interest in meeting with members of the HAIC in person, so this event is a great opportunity for members and supporters to meet and greet California’s Speaker Pro Tempore.
Assemblymember Fiona Ma was elected to represent California’s 12th Assembly District in November of 2006. This district includes the port city of San Francisco, along with Daly City, Colma and Broadmoor. In 2010 she was elected to a third term. In 2010, Assembly Speaker John A. Perez appointed Assemblymember Ma to the leadership position of Speaker pro Tempore. As presiding officer and member of the leadership team, she guides Assemblymembers through the daily business of the house, responds to parliamentary inquiries, issues rulings on points of order when necessary, and is responsible for guiding legislative priorities. She also serves on key committees including Agriculture, Business and Professions, Governmental Operations, Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security, and Utilities and Commerce.
We understand that Assemblymember Ma is focused on improving California’s bottom line and is authoring legislation to keep jobs in California and grow the state’s economy Join us in welcoming Assemblymember Ma to Southern California on August 11, 2011
