Hi All,

I’m new to the group, but very excited to be joining!

I work for a soup kitchen and community-based social service organization located in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn.  We are interested in potentially turning the empty lot across the street from us into a small urban farm where we can grow fresh produce to use in the meals we serve, and/or distribute to our members.

I’m looking for help drafting our first letter to the LLC that owns the lot.  They own a number of other properties around the city, and I’m not sure about the best way to frame our request.

If anyone has drafted a letter or reached out to a private landlord in the past, I would love to hear how you did it and how it went.

Thanks so much,
