There's an opportunity to work with NYU students to make a movie about your organizing efforts! Take a look below, and if interested, send a note to
organ...@596acres.org by September 10 and we'll make an intro.

My name is Mark Read. I teach a course at NYU entitled "Shifting Focus: Video Production and Community Organizing." The primary aim of the course is to partner a team of students with a community organization and have those students collaborate with the organization in the creation of a video, or videos, that will support some facet of the organization's work. The idea is to have the video be very specifically targeted to accomplish a concrete task, whether it be recruitment of volunteers, to raising funds, to thanking donors, or various other functions. We have worked, and have a clear record of success, with over 30 activist organizations over the last decade. As a for instance we have worked with such organizations as Greenmap, JustFood, Recycle-a-Bicycle, the National Mobilization Against Sweatshops, The Prison Moratorium Project, Solar One, Brooklyn Food Coalition and East New York Farms to name a few. Any one of those organizations would vouch for the work that we do. We are currently looking for organizations to work with for Fall 2013 semester. We're open to working on all sorts of issues and all kinds of organizations. We only require that there is a staff person that will act as an available liaison for the students and assist them throughout the year.
