Segal, 596 Acres" <pa...@596acres.org>That's great, Leah. Members, if you're not sure what this is about, here's a quick summary: HUD LLC, the guys who claim to own the garden lot at 237 Maple, have filed a motion in State Supreme Court to "quiet title." If that's upheld, it means that their claim to ownership can no longer be legally challenged, regardless of any irregularities in the original filing. It's one of those "speak now or forever hold your peace" deals: if no one shows up in court to show cause why their title should be questioned, then they win be default. Although they have tried to keep us from knowing about this move, Paula, our attorney, found out about it and has submitted briefs which she will go to argue. We should go with her, as many of us as can make it. It is important and effective to let the court see that committed people are concerned in this business.Tuesday, May 26th, 9:30 am, at 360 Adams Street, Brooklyn, Room 441. Please come if you can and wear the t-shirt in support of the garden!Leah, can you bring along those t-shirts? I've left them in the garden shed, to the left of the door. White plastic bag sitting on top of the sawhorse.Best wishes,TomFrom: "Leah Rinaldi" <lrri...@gmail.com>

We tried to adjourn this date to the date when our own motion for dismissal is on for argument (June 9) but HUD LLC's attorney refused, saying, "it appears that your client is not a party to the action."Likely not much will happen on May 26 but it will be the judge's introduction to the situation so it will be good for him to see that there are interested parties - the gardeners! and neighbors! - and that they are in his courtroom (wearing T-shirts).It would be great to get a good group for to come to court on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:30am. It's a different court: 360 Adams Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201. Our judge is Mark Partnow, in room 441.Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to invite press and elected officials. In solidarity,Paula Z.
