We are very excited to launch a new and improved wireless temperature and humidity sensor. Not only does it have an elegant and compact casing but it support either DS18B20 or DHT22 temperature sensors.

We have three options depending on what you want:

1. The complete kit containing case, PCB, micro-controller, DHT22 and all associated bits and pieces.

2. Only the micro-controller (RFu-328), loaded with the firmware for DHT22 and DS18B20.

3. Only the case, PCB and bits and pieces (excluding the DHT22 and micro controller) This is an option for people who already have those parts.

More details here.

If you could somehow make programming to make Pi's work with HVAC systems using these sensors, you would be gods and millionaires.

You mean like a thermostat?

A thermostat would be pretty neat

We already have that:

But alas we are millionaires, just humble Raspberry Pi gadget nuts :)

Haha, I put all those pieces together last night and blew my own mind.  Yes, you pretty much do have a thermostat if one was to put all the bits together.  The only thing its lacking (it might be in  the rules now actually thanks to me) is a way to tell it "At X time, trigger relay at X temp".   This would allow you to say, set  the temp lower when no one is in the building.  Also the only other thing I dont like about the current setup is  that the rules are coming from your server, not on the Pi itself.  These would have to have all the rules on the Pi to truly be a masterpiece.  Don't want our HVAC equipment going derp when we lose the net now do we?

Oops, meant to say "not millionaires" .

We do have a rule called "Hour of day" - if Hour of day = 7 then RelayOff will thermostat off at 7am.

You are right about the link to the server. All the building blocks are there though. For example with some fairly minor Python code changes you can adjust dallas.py to switch a relay based on temperature ranges or time of day.

Hi Gadjet Nut,
Are you aware that none of the URLs to your store seem to work?
Are you still selling these?  If so, please could you let me know if one of these units can transmit data for a string of  DS18B20's.  I appreciate that power consumption will increase but it may help me solve a problem I have.
Also, how easy would it be to interface this to a pair of door sensors (reed switches)?

Hi,

I have fixed the broken links in this post, if there are others please let me know - thanks for pointing that out.

Yes we are still selling these.

You  might be able to to transmit a string using the rfu_328 as this is an Arduino UNO, but I have never tried it before. This would depend how adventurous you are and can do some software coding.

A wireless reed switch is very easy :
