Copying Token

I have a token that I generated in 2017 which no longer seems to work.

I went to the Token page on PEP generated a new one and Copied it.

When I went to paste it into globals.py all that showed were asterisks, which, obviously didn't do the job.  [To be fair, all I see on the Token page are asterisks as well.]

Just to be sure that my browser wasn't somehow involved in this I did this exercise for both Firefox and Edge.  Same result on both.

Advice please.
