I have a wireless switch (RF23) and want to get temperature readings also (by adding a Thermistor). Is it possible to combine both in one wireless transmitter or do I need 2 transmitters?

You need 2 transmitters, one for each purpose. You can do both using an rfu-328, but that requires some coding of software.
