First off, thanks for setting up the PrivateEyePi website. I've found the whole project and working with your products really interesting.

I am trying to set up a few wireless temperature sensors to put around my garden to track which areas are the warmest. I have all of the software and libraries loaded onto the pi, but when I run the testing program, I dont get anything back (I was the five minutes and nothing happens at all). Python and especially electronics are very new to me, so this may be a very silly mistake on my part. I guess Im looking for some advice on 1) if theres any silly errors in my setup, 2) if my solders are okay, 3) any testing procedure I can do to troubleshoot the problem, or 4) any advice to fix the problem.

The pictures are below, thanks for looking.

I have the sensor set up like this for a test (2 x AA batteries:

Here's a close up of the sensor:

Thanks for posting the pictures, that helps immensely. The build looks correct. There could be many things to check, but first I'd start with checking power. The two batteries in the picture are not connected. The positive side of the battery on the left in the picture needs to join with the negative side of the batter on the right. Do you have a multimeter? If so check that you are getting 3V across the two jumpers you soldered to the batteries.

Thanks for the reply. I did connect the batteries, but didnt test with a multimeter. I'll go buy one and let you know the outcome.
