Amazon now logs you automatically into IMDb (Internet Movie Database)
I'm seeing reports of people receiving "welcome to IMDb" emails
unexpectedly. Apparently Amazon (which owns IMDb) recently merged
their account system with IMDb's. Now apparently if you visit IMDb
when there's an active Amazon account login cookie, the system will
automatically create an account using the credentials associated with
that cookie (reportedly this does not affect any other IMDb accounts
you may already have).
Just thought I'd pass this along since those unexpected emails have
been of concern to numerous folks. Easy to see how those can be alarming.
Amazon did not handle this well at all. Surprise!
