ECOLOGY IN THE GARDEN OF MACHINES
Rotterdam
Can technology play a role in creating a richer and more robust ecology? Ecological systems don't only include plants and animals, but the entire human and technological sphere as well. Up until now, that technological part of the ecology has often parasitized on the organic part. The question is whether this could change.

BIOMODD WORKSHOPS
Karlsruhe, Prishtina, London
Biomodd is a collaborative art project challenging presumed notions of opposition between nature and technology in different cultures throughout the world. In July 2015 three Biomodd workshops are taking place in different European countries and very different contexts: Karlsruhe, Prishtina and London.

Biomodd [ZKM7]
On July 10 Biomodd [ZKM7] will be launched as a preparatory workshop and presentation at ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. This first visit is an introduction to the actual Biomodd [ZKM7] project that will take place in November 2015 during the GLOBALE: Exo-Evolution exhibition. We want to kick start a new Biomodd community, and introduce the new collaborators to core Biomodd themes through a hands-on workshop with Angelo Vermeulen.

Biomodd London
In London a team of artists, permaculturists and hackers started a first Biomodd experiment in December 2013. Envisioning to create permanent Biomodd London Labs in the near future, the team decided to follow up with a three-day Biomodd workshop led by Diego Maranan and Angelo Vermeulen at Create Space London from July 25-27. A fundraver is planned to gather additional funds for the workshop. More updates about that on Biomodd London's Facebook page.

UN MAL POUR UN BIEN
FLUX, Kortrijk
Un mal pour un bien is a documentary created by Angelo Vermeulen in 2007. The video will be shown during the arts festival FLUX in Kortrijk starting on July 4, as part of the programming of Mr. Make-Do.
Un mal pour un bien focuses on the aftermath of the avian flu threat in the National Botanical Garden of Belgium during the summer of 2006. Drastic measures were taken to reduce the numbers of geese in the garden: a ban on feeding by visitors was imposed, and part of the geese population was – allegedly – gassed and eradicated. The film follows a small community of regular visitors who are strongly attached to the animals and are appalled by the events. Throughout the film they fiercely debate the relationship between man and the natural world, intolerance and aggression. They divulge alternative scenarios to handle the problems and contrive their own ecological analyses.
