I have the above Linksys printserver, which allows local, wireless
printing to a USB printer by assigning it a local IP address (mine is
192.168.1.109). The printer itself is an HP deskjet model which is
supported by Printershare.

However, all searches for "nearby printers" using PrinterShare, while
connected to the local network on wireless, do not come up with any
printers.

Is there any way to make this work? When I scan for nearby printers,
the print server LED for wireless activity flickers, so I know it is
being probed at least.

Connect Via a Wire to your network and see if it can find it then
(Configure the printer add driver)
Then try with WiFi
