"Beginner" Printer with reasonable price point

Anyone been keeping up with comparing the slew of 3d printer brands that are coming out and their materials, price points, etc.? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a "starter" 3d printer between $450 and $600?

Printrbot is an affordable company and I have heard mostly good reviews about their printers, and also seen some very nice prints.
