Day 12: Saturday

As you saw from our last update, Saturday was quite a busy day!  Our Flying Lap was timed at 2 minutes 24 seconds, placing us as 14th in the Challenger Class and 20th overall.  The flying lap times were all very close among cars, as places 6-20 were only separated by a 10 second gap.  Following the warm up and flying track laps, the car completed the slalom and brake tests to finish dynamic scrutineering.  Both tests went very well and we passed with flying colors.

Throughout the morning and early afternoon, all cars completed the same set of dynamic scrutineering, which created an exciting atmosphere on the track.  The team had the opportunity to watch other cars, as well as cheer on our befriended teams. After large group photos were taken, with all teams displaying their cars out in front of their pits, we packed everything up into the crate and supporting vehicles, preparing them for the journey ahead.  Each sleeping bag, pad, and tent is accounted for and the team is ready for camping in the outback.  For dinner we had Chinese food at Lazy Susan’s, where chow mien was the favorite dish for the night.  The logistics team also prepared a menu for the trip and began food preparations for camping in the Outback.

As of this moment, we’re at the starting line between Kookmin University Solar Car Team (Korea) and MDH Solar (Sweden). It’s quite humid and the clouds are slowly blowing over to reveal blue sky.

May the day prove fruitful for all of us!
