Subject: Bridgewater Associates Info Session Thursday November 17th 6PM at the Nassau Inn

Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, is looking to hire our next generation of leaders.  We have a long history of finding amazing talent on Princeton’s campus (you can see a list of all the Princetonians currently at Bridgewater at the bottom of this email), and we’re particularly interested in getting to know Math majors (we currently count five Princetonians who studied math in undergrad as colleagues and we’re looking to hire more!).  We’re excited to be returning to Princeton to recruit for summer internship positions, and we invite you to get to know us at our Summer Intern Info Session at the Nassau Inn on Thursday, November 17th, at 6PM.

Previous experience or interest in finance isn’t necessary.  We are looking for great thinkers with any type of academic background to help build the future of our company.  If this sounds like a challenge you’d like to accept, we invite you to come get to know us.  We’re looking forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Zachary Squire ‘08

Investment Associate

Bridgewater is a different kind of company. We are a leading investment firm – the largest hedge fund in the world – because we have a deep understanding of how the world works. We advise some of the most important people and organizations in the world. People who want to make an impact come to Bridgewater.

We believe in truth at all costs. Our culture of radical honesty and innovation drives unparalleled success. At Bridgewater, the best idea wins – no matter who it comes from. It’s a meritocracy of ideas. From day one, we expect our people to challenge everything – the markets, the company, the status quo, themselves.

POSITIONS WE RECRUIT FOR ON CAMPUS – NO FINANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:

INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

The Investment Associate community is the core of Bridgewater’s intellectual engine for understanding the global financial system and translating this understanding into world class results for the largest and most sophisticated pools of capital in the world. We recruit highly motivated, exceptional individuals with a passion for the markets and investing who possess the creativity, leadership, and conceptual intelligence necessary to ensure we continue to beat global markets.

The IA Experience:

Best in class macro-economic education through Bridgewater’s Investment Associate training  Class, taught by senior researchers, investment strategists and CIOs

Real impact on Bridgewater and the world through creating groundbreaking, economic research for our clients that is sought after by global policy-makers and the press

Partner with senior investment leaders to shape Bridgewater's understanding of the global financial system and work on projects that inform our investment decisions

Deepen your understanding of  the fundamentals of economics and investing and learn how economic growth, inflation, central bank policy, and external trade influence each other and impact interest rates, currencies, stock markets, and commodity prices globally

MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

Management Associates are the leaders of the company who are creating, driving and re-defining the Bridgewater of the future.  We are looking for big-picture, strategic thinkers who can own a piece of the company - set the vision, design and build out the infrastructure to support it, and lead and develop the people to make it all happen - and who can make immediate impact.

The MA Experience:

Partnership with Bridgewater’s senior leaders on projects to solve key organizational problems in one of our 16 departments

Build and deploy a transferable management toolkit for addressing fundamental management challenges such as designing and driving a team to achieve a goal, conducting problem and risk analysis, and managing business projects to completion

Undergo rapid self-improvement by optimizing your strengths and weaknesses in Bridgewater’s open and honest culture

Learn and employ Bridgewater’s time-tested, principles-based framework for managing people and organizational problems in the Management Associate training program

TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATE

Technology is fundamental to Bridgewater’s mission. Our philosophy of systematic problem solving goes hand in hand with original technology solutions. We have many hard, unsolved problems that require innovation and creativity. Our unique business not only requires the innovation necessary to discover the next great investment idea, but also requires the operational reliability necessary to effectively manage approximately $105 billion in global investments. That’s why we seek the highest caliber technology talent to help us solve those problems.

The TA Experience:

Work side-by-side with the best minds in investment to catalyze innovation in our technology driven investment processes

Solve a wide variety of problems ranging from lightning-fast trade processing systems, to cutting-edge data visualization and manipulation tools, to intricate support of Bridgewater’s mission critical investment systems

Join a community of technologists from across our company who share a passion for technology innovation.

Build your technology specialty by rotating through different positions which provide you exposure to a variety of technical and business problems and help you determine a discipline such as architecture, development, technology management, or operations and engineering
