VARA radio has made recordings of this concert (with Fish Clarke and
Deadly Headly) at the time. It is possible to obtain a cd via
klanten...@beeldengeluid.nl if VARA has no objections and you are
willing to sign a "personal use only" contract. Cost approx 35 euro's.
Total time approx 1 hour.

Hello Mark,

I never knew that Prince Far I also performed in Amsterdam. It's great
that it can be obtained via the VARA, I'll send them an email
immediately and ask if they're willing to send me a CD, 35 euro should
be worth it. I've got some more live recordings, but most of them have
poor quality.

Anyway, thanks for the info on this and feel free to contact me if you
have more info / questions about Prince Far I.

Kind regards, DubMatrix

PS. How did you hear of this recording, I tried searching at
www.beeldengeluid.nl but couldn't find anything. Do you know if it was
ever broadcasted and if there maybe is video footage available?

I read in the Oor Pop Encyclopedie (4th edition) that Prince Far I has
visited the Netherlands 3 times. First time with Creation RebeI
according to them a disaster, second time (with Deadly Headly and Fish
Clarke) a huge success, third time (with Leroy Wallace) at the Summer
Festival Amsterdamse Bos the best. In fact I wondered if of that
"Amsterdamse Bos" concert recordings would have been made at the time
and I tried the website too and found nothing. However I do have cd of
a Black Uhuru concert (Jaap Edenhal, 1981) via them but couldn't find
that one either. So I knew there is than you can see online and
dropped an e-mail.

So he must have performed at least twice in Amsterdam.

The quality of the recordings is very good. The bass could have been a
bit more prominent in the mix though...
In transfering from tape to cd they made a small error so one part is
repeated. It looks like it's a manual process and you might not have
that issue. Beeld en geluid might contain other reggae treasures. At
the time the VARA Radio Program "Moondogs" had more often reggae
items. I don't think any other info is available. I asked for it and
the guy replied perhaps with the tapes but the only information in the
end was a date and a location. The cd is without tracklisting.

Any ideas where to find the '83 struggle 12 inch at a higher bitrate
and in stereo? On e-bay it costs 45 pounds.

Cheers, Mark
