My 74 year old grandmother just got diagnosed with Peritoneal Cancer. Her Dr hasn't given us much to go by. We know nothing about this cancer! She just had surgery & was told he couldn't remove it all. We were told it was deep in her pelvis & had spread to her rectum, & outside of small intestines. He told us he removed what he could & had gotten it sand paper thin. I'm assuming he's referring to the tumor that was in her abdomen. We are so lost & have been so lost in emotion. Could really use some positive advice. Thanks!

Hello Kb.Th, I was 54 when I was dx with primary peritoneal cancer in May 2011. My CA125 was 1190. I had  major debulking surgery. They removed my omentum, appendix, spleen part of my colon and part of my rectum and was told they got all that they could. I was in the hospital 3 weeks. I then had 6 rounds of chemo Taxol/Carbo my Ca125 went down to 42. I see my oncologist every 2 mo. my CA 125 has gone up and down these past 2 1/2 years. I am doing well now and get to see the oncologist every 3 mo. now. Yeah! I know that the prognosis is very poor ...but you never know we are all different and only God knows when are time is up. Look at me, Dr.s only gave me 3 to 6 months! There is hope! and remember you are not alone.
God Bless.
Hope to hear from you! Your Friend, Diane

Hey Kb the main thing about this disease is hitting it hard.i was given a 15% chance of making it in aug 2009 . I had debulking and the whole bit. Then 2 months later I had a blockage from the scar tissue..one more surgery I almost died...they nicked my spleen .i almost bleed to death ..since then I have done chemo 5 times 6 rounds four times .then 9 rounds once ..I am 53 years old and have been fighting almost 5 years ..stay on top of it !! I've had 7 surgerys now and I'm cancer free for the first time in 5 years !keep fighting is the key ! Bless her !
