Delete the app & reinstall it.
Make sure your account works by logging in on the website,
http://panel.preyproject.com

If it still fails reset your password & try again.
Is it rooted Android? What version is it, what version of Prey is it running?

Do you have a network connection to the internet?

The version is at the bottom when you log in to the app.
It should be 0.5.3 to be current.

I'm not sure what could be stopping you activating, a proxy on the network could be an issue. If you can view the prey site on the device the Prey app should also be able to contact the control panel.

You can add a device manually in the control panel, then use the 'Account management' in the app to add the device key (on left of device page).
it does seem like it is unable to contact the control panel, so make sure you test it if if associates with your account.

The next step would be looking for logs to see if Prey is crashing or being denied access to the network. I think catlog will show you the logs.

I can't add a device either.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and when I go to my account and click add device it takes me to the download page. It is my understanding that I need to be able to add the device first in order to get the device key to enter into the config file. I see where I get the API key, on my account page, but the device key is stumping me because I cannot seem to get past the download page.

Thank you for any help

Try http://panel.preyproject.com/devices/new
There was a recent thread, search the group for more (via link in footer).

Tomás,
Would it be possible to add a button to the downloads page to go to the 'new device' page. I'm thinking it should pop up a dialog (like delete in the Control Panel) stating something like "Manual setup requires the device to be configured by hand, ensure you complete this step otherwise your device can't be tracked by Prey. Continue only if you have a clue about what you are doing." (Or something about making sure to verify & make sure Prey sends reports).

:^)

Hi,

Are you having trouble logging into the website or into the Android app? Did you modify your registered email address on the Control Panel by any chance?
