Prey and the Webcam? Giveaway or super stealth?

Does anyone know if my Macbook Pro is filed as missing and I tell prey
to get a photo of the person using it will the green webcam light come
on???

Don't want to give it away that I'm taking photos of him/her. They may
ditch the laptop!

Anyone?

If you have the Macbook in your possession test Prey & see if you notice the green light.
The green light is a 'hardware feature' the only way to disable it is to remove the LED, software cannot alter this behaviour.

If the laptop is stolen/ missing & you are getting reports you don't have much to loose by trying to get a screenshot, you can activate it in the control panel. I suspect the photo is valuable for Police to track down the user, because there are limitations to the Geolocation report.

If it's already stolen, it might be too late. But users concerned about the
LED can put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light, avoiding
the camera lens.

If done carefully and cleanly, I doubt most thieves would notice or remove
it.

On my machine the flash is so quick that I sometimes missed it when I was
testing. But it is obvious if you see it.

In addition to my other note, you should know this yourself from the testing
you did after you installed the software. You did test to make sure Prey
works, right?
