I am having the same problem. I just installed Prey on my MacBook Air with OSX Lion, then I activated Prey, toggling 'missing' in the control panel, but after many hours, I have not received any reports at all. When I looked at the log and used check mode in the terminal window, this is what I found:

You are not getting any reports because Prey cannot contact the control panel to find out that it is missing.
It says it got Status Code 500. A quick web search of HTTP status codes indicates that 500 is “Internal Error 500
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.“
Do you have a proxy or other virus/security software that might be blocking the request?
Or perhaps Prey’s servers really are having an internal error, not sure what could be going on there. It’s possible one of the admins can actually check the logs on that end.
Bottom line, this log says that the computer is not missing “-- Nothing to worry about. :)” so no report is being generated.
