· Introduction:
Welcome everyone.
Introduce yourself and IML project in few words.
Explain them what you are going to do.
Say a few words about a meditation: “We are going to do a very simple yet powerful meditation – it’s a guided meditation so you simply relax, keep your eyes closed and effortlessly follow the instructions. Do not resist any sensations! Be with whatever is happening, etc.”
You may add: “Meditation is an art of doing nothing. I want nothing and I do nothing for next 15-20 minutes. You only breathe. Do not make an effort to think ‘I want nothing’ and ‘I do nothing’ - Just an effortless attention.”
· Nadishodhana/ alternate nostral breathing:
Ask to switch off the mobile phones, sit comfortable with the spine straight.
We will start with the breathing technique called Nadishodhana/ alternate nostral breathing technique, which helps to calm the mind and balance both sides of the brain that allows getting effortlessly into meditation. (*See nadishodhana instruction).
First show. Then do 1 cycle together with the group with the eyes open, ask them if everything is clear, then do together with eyes closed 2 rounds (5min each) with few minutes (1-2min) break between rounds. During the break ask them to keep their eyes closed and palms facing upwards and observe the sensations.
(If there is not enough time then do just one round.)
· Meditation:
After second round of nadihodhana pranayama ask them to keep their eyes closed and get ready for the meditation. Remind them to keep eyes closed throughout the meditation, relax, without an effort follow the instructions and do not resist any sensations.
Then play Guruji’s meditation.
· Home Instructions:
Ask how they felt, if meditation was good.
Explain them how to do nadishodhana at home. Give them printed instructions with your contact details.
Invite them for the next session. Ask if they would like to be on the mailing list to receive more information about our sessions and give them mailing list to leave their contact details.
