Many Thanks for your enthusiasm to drive this campaign for a bigger cause. Based on the inputs I received in the last week over several conference calls for the campaign you will find most of your answers below. Nirj Deva Campaign Details below for Saturday the 17 May 2014 from 10:00AM to 16:00 At Farnham

 

1) Where?

Car Park outside 

Ashtead train station

2) When?

                10:00AM to 16:00 AM

 

3) What to wear?            

                 Comfortable footwear + umbrella + charged mobile phone

 

4) How to get there by public transport?

5) Can you bring your own car?

                Yes

               

6) Parking the car?

               Train station car-park (£2 fee – Nirj will reimburse)

7) Are there enough cars to carry the volunteer groups to their pre-designated location?

                Yes, will be done in batches, local cars + a mini-van

8) Will we be then picked to be dropped back to the Ashtead station once the flyers are delivered?

9) Lunch Plans?

                Please carry your own packed lunch as difficult to coordinate with people in different locations. I am trying to arrange Pizzas to be  delivered.

-Canvassing on behalf of the Nirj Deva for the upcoming European Elections.

Dear All,

Many thanks for your time, support and participation in the Nirj Deva Phase-2 campaign. Attached are the names of the volunteers who kept their word and turned up to show their stoic support by participating in the door to door leaflet-dropping campaign. Each of these volunteers demonstrated their support to a candidate who has been instrumental in getting Art of Living a strong European presence at the European Parliament. I will forward this list to Guruji. Thank you.Every contribution to this day has been priceless. 

I particularly want to thank the German team of four who dropped their commitments and came all the way to London just to participate and support us in the campaign. I want to specially thank Krithika who came all the way from New Castle and with her bubbly smile lightened up the whole service to a fun day. Luton to Ashton is 41 miles and Prashant Manral faced several challenges as his son had an injury on the way, so Prashant drove back home and attended to the medical injury and again drove back to Ashtead for the campaign. I do not know how to thank this man who has stood by this campaign and has been my rock in this phase of the campaign.

Jose Fiuza Chairman of the conservatives had a very positive feedback and here is an extract from his mail I received this morning

“Thank you again for all your help yesterday. It was great to meet you and indeed get a chance to chat with quite a few of the people who came- a very interesting and diverse bunch indeed. If you can pass on our thanks for all their help too.”

 

Our dearest Ghazal’s testimonial as below.

 

“After traveling for the last 2 weeks in 5 different cities, I was happy to come back to the Ashram. 

But plans got changed and 3 Seva Angeles, Padro (from Portugal), Zdravco (from Croatia), Julie (from Australia) from the German Ashram picked me up from the train station and we made our way with the car to London =) Next day was an amazing sunny day in a beautiful green surrounding. After all this traveling, sitting in the train, car, in front of my laptop...I was happy to go for a long walk. Gurudev made me finally move my body, enjoy the sun (not only from inside) and meet lovely people. Besides the beautiful day we had an amazing host, who made us feel home from the beginning and was taking so much care, feeding us, entertaining us...

We didn't even know what we were exactly distributing, but it was a good feeling to be useful and help someone out, who has supported the AOL/ IAHV. It was quite interesting to observe my mind. How it completely changed, from "oh no I'm tried, I don't want to travel again and next day distributing leaflets, and not knowing what it is all about" to "Wow, everything is so perfect. Being useful and doing Seva is such a gift. Whenever you do Seva, then nature and everything around supports you and take care of you".

 

Thank you once again for making this experience a memorable one as each of you continue to inspire each other and  me in pushing the boundaries to take it to new heights with a space of wanting nothing back and serving the community. I learnt a lot about myself through you. Thank you!

Nirj Desai helped Art of Living gain a significant presence in the European Parliament and the excellent humanitarian work that Art of Living is involved in has had an impetus through Nirj Deva's presence. For this Art of Living as an organization is extremely grateful. Art of Living is an apolitical organisation hence as much as I appreciate your enthusiasm for the conservative party. I would like to request you to not use this as a forum to promote any political work. That is not our mandate. Our mandate was to do a door to door flyering and the job is now done.  

Bearing in mind the sensitivity towards people and their preferences the mail below is solely your personal view and Art of Living does not take a political stand nor approve any such political views as you state below. I think we own a joint responsibility to refrain from such general emails that jeopardises the apolitical stand Art of Living has taken. May I kindly request you to not prolong the Nirj Deva project on this forum and I disapprove of this. I want to be clear that our work for Nirj Deva is done for now. 

I now request the board members to step in and take a stand on managing the communications as I am no longer authorised to handle this.
