This possible issue comes from my work to post test answer keys. I found
that when I use the print preview mode and un-select the hide solutions
box, a mess occurs starting at the bottom of the first page. Link below
is to the document.

This is not an issue for me at this time (I don't need print versions).
I am bringing it up in case it indicates a broader issue.

I noticed that when I select the "Highlight workspace" box, nothing happens. Are you adding workspace to your exercises?

No. I don't actually need space in these (not how I structure tests). Is the solution supposed to fit into the space specified?

It looks like you are putting a <solutions> element inside the handout, is that right?  Handouts are not meant for including subsections, which the <solutions> generator creates.  This is why the page-breaking doesn't work on the print preview.

If you don't use a handout, you could still print from the main page and will get somewhat reasonable page breaks (although you won't be able to add workspace or manually break pages).  Alternatively, you can create a handout or worksheet that consists of exercises and turn on solutions in the publication file.
