I was using

<version include="source-for-select-questions"/> to include the hidden activities the first time I build the ebook.

Then I switched to
<version include=""/> and rebuilt the ebook to hide the content that I didn't want to show.

To make this work I added
component="source-for-select-questions" to the sections I wanted to exclude.

This was working, but now I am getting an error that it can't find the questions.

Did something change?

Are there cross references to the questions elsewhere in the book?

Yes, I am using them for select_questions.  I do not want the original questions to show, just the select questions which allow the user to switch between two questions.

I'm sure you already know this, but if you have an xref to something in a component, and you include the xref but not the component, you're going to get an error because it can't find the target.

Maybe that's not what the error message is?

I was told before that if I built the book on runestone with all the context included using <version include="source-for-select-questions"/> and then immediately rebuilt it with that content excluded that it would work.  It did when I first attempted it.  But, now it isn't working.

I just checked and it is working.  Perhaps I had some other error before in my source.
