In fact, the sidebyside doesn't work in any configuration.  Neither does the leave space command.

Dear Kathy,

Use the "View Source" knowls here to find code you can try out.

https://pretextbook.org/examples/sample-article/annotated/section-worksheets.html

Many things do work.

Rob,

The source on that page doesn't appear to be rendering properly (at least not from my phone).

Thanks, Geoff! Some of them are working sort of, for me on fone. But it definitely needs some help.

Thanks, Rob.  That source code was all tixzi for the figures, but I'll hunt for other View Source buttons.

Hi Rob,

I tried copying Dave Rosoff's geometric-prelude worksheet from the sample-article.xml file. I had to remove a few things from tikz code before I could get anything to build, but I did succeed in getting reasonable output.
I tried changing an instance of  workspace="1in" to  workspace="4in" and could detect no change in the output, not on the webpage, nor on either print preview. (I'm using a Firefox browser on a windows machine.) Also, the worksheet did not have a page break where Dave had inserted <page>. The entire worksheet  appears on two pages.

Thanks, Bruce, for giving this a go. I believe there is some dynamic sizing that happens, so maybe try adjusting several @workspace in large and opposite directions? Others can say more, I don't think I have ever made a worksheet.

Rosoff's is likely pretty old, but should have seen some updates. Later examples might be Oscar's work during his more recent push to improve this.

Apologies for View Source being busted.

If you wrap content in <page> elements, then the print preview will do its best to fit what you have on a single page, eating up workspace as needed.  If you drop the page elements, then pagebreaks will be created to *add* workspace as equitably as possible.

Thanks Oscar, that gives me a better idea of what to try.

But still, in Dave's worksheet-geometric-prelude-pages worksheet, his first exercise is wrapped in <page>, yet it appears on the same page as the introduction. I expected the <page> to cause a page break.

Introduction is a problem child, at home and at school. Everywhere

I think it gets sucked in to the first #page. It should probably be banned. Just write some stuff wherever you want it. Use a #paragraphs if you want a bit (a little bit) of organization.

Right, everything before the first page is put on the first page.  There is no way to mix page and no page sections, except for this.  A remnant of when we thought introduction was how you could start a worksheet.
