In HTML output, a tabular that contains math seems to always get a vertical scroll bar for no apparent reason?

Examples from the live sample article:

Hmmm. Thanks for the report.

There has recently been a huge refactor of tables. I wonder if that has
introduced something that is setting off some CSS? Or if there was a pure CSS
change, or it has always been this way?

Great opportunity to experiment with "git bisect". Provided none of the recent
major pushes leaves any commits where builds are totally busted.

Fwiw, seeing it with chtml, not with svg rendering.

Also possibly relevant are the mathjax settings for wide expressions.

Thanks, Alex. Maybe a MJ4 thing? I'm seeing a lot of line-breaking stuff
happening with offline MJ4, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Answering my own musings.

Checked out 2f35fe3a94dafa01e98ead8482877896ecc2d40b from mid-April, just prior
to the MJ4 switch. No scroll bars at Jeremy's example at the end of Section 13
of the sample article.

Does that give the CSS technicians something to go on?

Also doesn't happen when the tabular is inside an sbspanel.

I checked on the respective CSS and found this:

Disabling the overflow-x rule or "overflow-x: clip" removes the scrollbar.

The inspector tells me (for my example) that some mathjax elements cause the overflow:

Yes, it looks like MJ4 resizes the content vertically but not the container for it. We don't want to clip the x, or long equations that don't fit on a page will be cut off.
overflow-y: visible seems to handle the tiny amount of overage without issue.

Errr... overflow-y: hidden.

Thanks to everyone for their participation in this one. And thanks to Andrew
for a quick fix. See
