The Department of PreTeXt Efficiency (DOPE) has been busy today improving the
conversion to LaTeX. And this time it wasn't our usual "special PreTeXt
employee" doing the work.

If you hesitate to build a PDF of your project since it takes so long, please
give it another try after your next update. Large projects might see as much as
a 15x improvement in making the LaTeX, and small projects might get a 2x or 3x
speedup. Note that LaTeX compilation to a PDF is now a very significant amount
of the time to make a PDF, and that is mostly out of our hands.

We *always* recommend making the PDF version of your project, even if you could
care less about distributing that version. The exacting nature of the LaTeX
compilation means that a failure to successfully create a PDF almost always
indicates some mistake in your PreTeXt source. Best to catch those earlier
rather than later.
