I was trying to become more familiar with the accessibility features of PreTeXt, so I wanted to get a sense for how the structure of PreTeXt html is designed to support screen readers. I use a Mac, and my cursory internet search suggests to use the built in voiceover system.
I came across a weird result where Math content is not being read when the full document is being read (Mac voiceover Ctl-Opt-a) but is read when navigating manually through the different elements (Ctl-Opt-right-arrow).
As an example,
Motivating Questions 1.2 from ACS2e has a limit in the second bullet. When reading the entire document, the formula is skipped. But if I am reading one item at a time and moving to the next, the formula is read.
Maybe I just am not yet familiar with how the reader actually works, or there is something structurally blocking the voiceover system from seeing the full content. I was hoping someone with more experience would be able to see if this is an issue that needs to be looked at.
