For Michael Cantino:

Attached is a PDF tactile diagram created by PreFigure.  This is designed to be embossed, but I'm hoping you could view it on a Monarch and let me know how it works and what improvements could be made.

Thanks,,
David

Better late than never, right? Putting together written notes feels impractical, so I recorded myself exploring the graphic on the Monarch. Here's the video. It's "unlisted" on YouTube, so it will only be available to those with a direct link.

Monarch graphics are odd and unpredictable. I talked with some APH folks a month ago about designing for the Monarch, and they said they're also having issues with getting things to render consistently on the Monarch. Bitmap seems to be the best format for making "pixel perfect" graphics on the Monarch, but even then, you have to go through a long work around to get that to work correctly. PDF is the only format that supports braille text.

APH put together this draft document of design guidelines for the Monarch. There are some design tips here that could be applied to your work to help designs render more consistently on the Monarch.
